Duties: Serves as coordinator for the installation Army Family Advocacy
Program (AFAP), and Suicide Prevention Program, providing assistance to
active duty military personnel, retired military and their family
members. Develops installation procedures that outline responsibilities
for the execution of the AFAP. Assesses the special needs of military
and retired families residing on the installation and in the surrounding
community. Identifies trends and adjustments to be made in the
administration of the AFAP. Develops and implements a post-wide
prevention and education program which includes informing the community
about child and spouse maltreatment, and resources for information and
referral data to insure that unit commanders, their staff, and all
military personnel and their families are aware of services offered.
Develops and publicizes information about the seriousness of child and
spouse maltreatment, and available services.
About the Position: The Garrison provides installation management and
support to Team C4ISR elements, and tenant organizations on post. The
Garrison is responsible for Base Operations, Contractor Support and Real
Property that includes main post and the Charles Wood Area, as well as
various programs and services to enhance the quality of life for
soldiers and civilians at Fort Monmouth.
Fort Monmouth has been identified as a BRAC closure installation and is
anticipated to close by September 2011. The majority of the functions
will transfer to Aberdeen, Maryland although a few will transfer to Fort
Belvoir, Virginia and Columbus, Ohio. Some positions at Fort Monmouth,
however, will not be entitled to transfer.

Qualifications
General ScheduleBasic Requirements: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the
requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school
accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Specialized
Experience is experience that equipped the candidate with knowledge of
managing, coordinating and directing the installation Family Advocacy
Program and perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is
typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
GS-11: Bachelor's degree directly related to this occupation and 1 year
of experience directly related to this occupation equivalent to the next
lower grade level, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate
education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral
degree.
