Child Development Center

The Fort Monmouth Child Development Center (CDC) includes a variety of programs for children six weeks to six years of age. It is open to children of active duty military, DOD civilians and contractors, National Guard and military reservists. Monthly tuition is based on a sliding scale of six income categories. Categories are based on total family income and are standardized throughout the Department of Defense. Fees are generally 20 to 30 percent less than those charged by civilian childcare centers in the surrounding community. Children are served breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. USDA guidelines are followed in planning and preparing all meals.
The CDC offers a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth of young children. To support this commitment, the CDC is accredited by the National Association of Early Childhood programs and certified annually by the Department of Defense. All programs in the Child Development Center support a developmental approach to the care and growth of children.
Learning activities support the natural development of the child and include individual, small group, and large group opportunities. The daily schedule gives children both times to choose their own activities and also to be a part of adult-directed activities. The age appropriate playgrounds that surround the building make outdoor play a year 'round activity. Our curriculum, staff and projected core values all intertwine to provide a supportive, comfortable and accepting atmosphere so that each child will develop a healthy self-concept and positive outlook on life.
